Karon Marie Hunt nee Giblin, age 76, of Sahuarita, Arizona, formerly of Steger, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025. Beloved wife of Richard Hunt for 49 years. Loving mother of Timothy (Jennifer) Hunt, Jarrett (Jennifer Brown) Hunt and Kal Hanson. Cherished grandmother of Jessica (Jared) Hildebrand, Kaitlyn (Walt Sandborn) Hunt, Craig (Brittany Fahey) Lantz, Claire (Nick Puccinelli) Lantz, Justin Hunt, Jason Hunt, Hailey Croak, Kaleb Hanson, Katherine Stewart, Gabriel Stewart, Nicholas Stewart, Joseph Stewart, Cody Hogeveen, Kyle Hogeveen, Paige Hogeveen, Brian Doe, Ashley Sons, Cheyanne Painter. Dear sister of the late Sharon Giblin, Thom Giblin, John (Joan) Giblin, Margaret (John) Maffei, Kelly (Mcquin) Morris, the late James Giblin, the late Jimmy Giblin, Laura (David) Rubarth and Helena (Arthur) Brizzi. Her dearly loved extended family include her best friend of 60 years Marysue Paradiso, Ray Paradiso, Nikki Pi/Rennie Santilli, Estella and Fifi Santilli, Samantha Paradiso, James Baum, John Darge, Steven Mann, Esther Stewart, Rob Stewart, Jackie Flood, Michele Baikauskas, John Hogeveen, Brandon Houser, Nate Purdy, Melissa Hunt, Sharon Hanson, Denise Jensen, Tim Jensen, Tera Jensen, Brook Jensen, Justin Jensen, Dimar Vasques and the Bunco Broads: Nancy Matela, Paula Matela, Debbi Braccio, Melanie Dudek and Debby Gazda. **To all those who may not have been named you will forever be remembered and know that you have made an impact on her life.**

Karon Marie Giblin was born November 11, 1948 in Chicago, Illinois. As a young child, the family moved to the south suburban area of Chicago. Karon attended Bloom High School and graduated in 1966. Later in life Karon attended Purdue (Calumet) University and obtained an Associate Degree. Karon met Richard Hunt in September of 1974 and they were married in October of 1975. They have two sons, Tim and Jarrett, and a host of other children that were brought into the home as guardians of the children and/or extended family. This included two children from Belfast, Northern Ireland (Steven Mann and Jackie Flood). All these children (natural and extended) provided Karon with many grandchildren and other extended family.

Karon impacted the lives of many, many individuals throughout her life, she was always there for anyone who needed help. In 1978, Karon and Richard started a business, Multi-County Security, which employed up to 200 security personnel. Karon obtained her Private Detective and Private Security Contractor licenses in 1982. Karon retired from Hunt & Hunt, Ltd. (formerly Multi-County Security) in 2023. Karon was a leader and trainer for the Boy Scouts of America, Leader of the FRG (Family Readiness Group) Illinois Army Alpha Company 1/178 Infantry assigned to the 16th Airborne MP Brigade, Coordinator for the Irish Children’s Fund, worked with multiple animal rescues and started her own rescue Helping Hands, was on the board for One Pet One Vet and active in multiple other organizations.

Karon and Richard moved to Sahuarita, Arizona in April of 2024. Unfortunately, in July of 2024 Karon fell ill and began a long battle that came to an end on March 5, 2025. She will be missed by family, friends, acquaintances and the many people that she met and helped over the years.

Visitation to be held Friday, March 21, 2025 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits – Steger Memorial Chapel, 3045 Chicago Rd. Steger, Illinois 60475. Prayer service to be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 at 9:15 a.m. at Smits – Steger Memorial Chapel with Mass to follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. Liborius Catholic Church.
