Kathleen M. (Sullivan) Chubb

Kathleen (nee Sullivan) Chubb, age 60, of Griffith, Indiana, passed away on February 26, 2022, after a long-term illness.

Kathy was born on October 31, 1961, to David and Patricia Sullivan in Gary, Indiana. After graduating from Lake Central High School in 1979, she went on to have a career as a paralegal and a medical assistant. In her later years, she helped to care for her parents and manage the finances of the family’s local fishing business.

Kathy was passionate about her Native American heritage tracing the family’s genealogy to the Delaware Nation, she loved her grandchildren with all she had, and spent her quiet time with her Heavenly Father. Throughout Kathy’s life, she was known for her gentle spirit and her love of a good cup of tea.

Kathy is survived by her daughters Robyn McCormick (partner Bryan Wilson), and Stefany (Sutich) Anderson (spouse Jake Anderson). She is the loving grandmother of Braylon, Brady, Alleigh Sutich, Piper and Paige Wilson, and Elizabeth Chubb. Kathy is lovingly remembered by her six siblings and their spouses: David Sullivan, Jr., Scott Sullivan (Andrea), Edward Sullivan (Diana), Ryan Sullivan (Melissa), Mike Sullivan, Sr., and Meegan Morgan (Matt) along with 19 nieces and nephews, and 4 great-nieces and nephews. She joins in heaven her paternal grandparents Reed Smith Sullivan and Kathleen Marie Sullivan, and maternal grandparents Edward McCullough and Marie Melsh.

Please do not stand on ceremony, attire is casual as Kathy would want you to come as you are. She loved you for you, she did not want anything formal.

The family requests that all flowers and notes be sent to Smits Funeral Home. If inclined, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Kathleen’s name to the American Behcet’s Disease Association, Donate | American Behcets Disease Association .

Visitation will be held on March 5, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the prayer service at 3:30 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Ln. (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN  46311.  No interment following services, private.
