Kathryn “Kay” H. Beezhold, nee Schepel, age 94, of Crete, IL, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020. Loving wife for 71 years of the late Nicholas H. Beezhold.  Devoted mother of Kathryn (Jack) Triemstra, Nicholas (Bonnie) Beezhold, Barbara (Ted) Heersink, Ruth (Bob) Lantz, Joel (Linda) Beezhold, and James (Jeanette) Beezhold.  Proud grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.  Dear sister of the late Emma (late Herbert) Vander Weele and late Ellen (late William) Lanting.

Kay grew up in South Holland, IL where she was a member of Bethany Christian Reformed Church.  After marrying Nick Beezhold, they lived in Roseland and Lansing, IL for a few years, and then moved to South Holland where they raised their children.  Kay taught Sunday School and served as a Calvinette counselor at Cottage Grove Christian Reformed Church where they were members.  Kay loved to sing and often sang as she did her housework.  She sang in the church choir and with the Chicago Choral Club. After her children were grown, Kay worked at Rest Haven in South Holland, first as a volunteer and later as a nurse’s aide. After retiring, they moved to Indiana and then later to Crete, IL. They were members of Oak Glen United Reformed Church.

A private family funeral service will be held Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Ln. Dyer, IN with Rev. Ed Marcusse officiating.
