Kenneth A. Gouwens, age 73, of South Holland, IL passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017. Beloved husband of Nancy Gouwens, nee Petrozz. Dear father of Sheri (Jason) Roteck and step-father of David Simon and Dana (Gregg) Kraly. Loving brother of Lynn (Pete) Groenewold. Preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Wilmina Gouwens. Visitation, Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 2:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home, 649 E. 162nd St.(Rt.6/159th St.), South Holland, IL. Funeral Service, Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with services conducted by Rev. Dr. Matt Waterstone. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery - Lansing, IL. Mr. Gouwens was a Vietnam Veteran and a retired Deputy Chief for the South Holland Police Department. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or the Parkinson's Foundation.
