Kenneth R. Groeneveld was received into our Lord and Savior’s loving arms and Heaven’s eternity on Friday, March 14, 2025 at the age of 91, at his home in Orland Park, Illinois. His journey these last few months was lightened, guided, comforted and supported by Lightways Hospice, family and pastors of First Reformed Church of South Holland. He was born in Harvey, IL to the late Elizabeth (nee Hipp) Groeneveld Cowen and the late John C. Groeneveld Sr. Beloved husband of Anna Mae (nee Anker); loving father of Jennifer (Dan) Kuzniewski, John Groeneveld, and David Groeneveld, Diane Simnick (Ray); cherished grandfather of Raymond Junior (Lauren nee Peters) Simnick, Stephanie Simnick-Kraus (Alex Kraus), Jeff Simnick, Caitlyn and Hanna Kuzniewski. Dear brother of the late James A. (late Ruth) Groeneveld, late Donald J. (late Marie) Groeneveld, late Ilene (late Peter) Spoolstra, late Elizabeth Groeneveld, late John Morris Groeneveld, late John Cornelius (Bonnie nee Fell) Groeneveld, and Edward (Margo) Cowen. Ken was a U.S. Army Veteran.
The family will receive friends for a visitation Friday, March 21, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at First Reformed Church 15924 South Park Ave, South Holland, IL. with Rev. James Oord and Rev. Richard Grevengoed officiating. Following the Funeral Service, everyone is invited to join with the family downstairs in the fellowship room for a time of fellowship and luncheon that will be served. Interment Monday, March 24, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery—Elwood, IL.
