Kurt John Kloppenburg

Kurt John Kloppenburg, age 87, of Dyer, IN, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Beloved husband of Helen Kloppenburg, nee Baseler. Loving father of Dorothy (Greg) Alcorn, Linda (Roman) Budek, and Karl (Tammy) Kloppenburg. Proud grandfather of Matthew (Carlos Martinez) Alcorn, Amanda Budek, Ashley (Alex) Bardoczi, Jon (Makayla) Budek, Victoria Budek, Kyle (Lily) Kloppenburg, and Mike Budek. Great-grandfather of Emery Bardoczi. Dear brother of Betty (Don) Schepel. Kind uncle of several nieces and Nephews. Preceded in death by his parents John and Helen Kloppenburg. Kurt was a retired sheet metal worker for Local #73 and a United States Army veteran. He was loved by many and will be missed.

Visitation Tuesday, November 10, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Interment Wednesday, November 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Caledonia Cemetery – Sparta, IL.
