Larry Lee Heusmann

Larry Heusmann, 84, of Chicago Heights passed away November 18, 2023. Larry was born 1939 at St. James hospital and was a lifelong resident of Chicago Heights. Larry was the oldest of three children to Inez and Louis Heusmann and is survived by his siblings, H.W. Heusmann (Lynn) and Juanita Miller (William).Larry is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Kathy (Kathleen Prindiville). Soon after their wedding,  Larry was drafted into the Army and both Larry and Kathy moved to Tokyo, Japan. After this experience, they moved back to Chicago Heights where they started their family.

He is survived by his children,  Russell, Glenn (Danielle), and Sherri (Rich), and his six beautiful grandchildren; Matthew, Nichole, Melany, Justin, Lucas, and Makenzie. Larry was very involved in his community and was the chief of the Paid On Call Chicago Heights firemen and chief of the Holbrook Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was a hard working man who provided well for his family with a career in management, running R-H Rototilling, and selling tomatoes and firewood in his spare time. Larry loved driving his RV and taking the family on cross country trips. He also enjoyed fishing and telling fireside stories at his lakeside cottage in Michigan. He will be missed terribly by everyone who knew him.

Visitation to be held Friday, November  24, 2023 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits– Steger Memorial Chapel, 3045 Chicago Rd. Steger, Illinois, 60475. Visitation Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service 10:00 a.m.  directly at St. Paul's Lutheran Church 330 W Highland Dr, Chicago Heights, IL, Interment to follow at Skyline Memorial Park, Monee, IL.
