Laura J. Colvin, nee DeYoung, age 91, of Lansing, IL, went home to her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. Beloved wife of Frederick L. Colvin.  Loving mother of Cindy (late John) Hobscheid, Fred A. (Marj) Colvin, Jeffrey (Linda) Colvin, and Amy (Doug) Allen.  Proud grandmother of Laura Jo (Steve) Hacko, Carrie Jo Hobscheid, John Hobscheid, Lee (Susan) Colvin, Joshua (Angela) Colvin, Bethany (Nathan) Zirbel, Christopher (Jess) Colvin, Chad (Laura) Colvin, Eric (Jamie) Colvin, Jason Colvin, Shane (Aubrey) Colvin, Spencer (Hanna) Allen, Jada Allen, and Jannae Allen; great-grandmother of Joleigh, Alayna, Alaysia, Clayton, Joselyn, Braxton, Riley, Coby, Norah, Emily, Hazel, Oliver, Reyna, Brielle, Cheyanne, Grayson, Sadie, and Margo.  Dear sister of the late Johanna Lorenz, late Carrie Haak, and the late Clarence R. (late Pearl) DeYoung. Aunt of several nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by her parents Arnold K. and Coby DeYoung.

Laura Colvin was a godly wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was passionate about her family and her church.  She took great delight in attending children’s sporting events and concerts, and heartily cheered every family member’s endeavor.  She showed joyful love, prayerful support, and tireless patience with family through all of life’s stages and trials.  Laura loved music, and counted it a joy and privilege to serve her Lord for over 50 years by playing the organ in worship services, weddings, and funerals.

Visitation Friday, February 18, 2022 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN.  Funeral service Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Glen United Reformed Church, 2244 Indiana Ave. Lansing, IL with Rev. Paul Ipema officiating. Interment Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery – Elwood, IL with Rev.
