Lawrence (Larry) Dirksen, age 75, of Steger, IL, formerly Springfield, Illinois passed away peacefully January 23, 2013. Beloved husband of Sandra Williams Dirksen (deceased) and Pamela Arlene Dirksen (deceased). Loving father of Gary (Ana) Dirksen, and step-father of Jane Dangoia. Cherished grandfather of Lauren and Lucas Dirksen. Dear brother of Leonard Dirksen and Diane Lord. Larry was preceded in death by his step-daughter Lisa Dangoia and parents Lawrence G. Dirksen and Helen Leonard Dirksen. Memorial Visitation Saturday January 26th, 2013 from 12:00-4:00pm at the Smits Funeral Homes-Steger Memorial Chapel, 3045 Chicago Rd. Internment private. Larry grew up in Springfield, IL and attended Cathedral Boys High School. After serving 2 years in the US Army''s 101st Airborne Larry completed his bachelor degree at Western Illinois and Law Degree at Chicago Kent-College of Law. Highlighting a 45 year law career as one of Chicago''s best trial lawyers, Larry argued a case in front of the US Supreme Court in 1979. Larry was noted for his warm heart and generosity to friends and colleagues. Donations to Imerman Angels can be made in lieu of flowers.
