Lawrence Stovall

Lawrence Eric Stovall, 66, of St. Anne, IL, died suddenly Sunday November 9, 2008 at his home. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Momence Funeral Chapel and from 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Manteno, until the 11 a.m. services. The Rev. Hal Trovillion will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery " Wichert, IL. Memorials may be made to Frontline Missions International, P.O. Box 362, Round Rock, TX, 78680 in support of Andrea Murray, Botswana, Africa. Mr. Stovall was a proud operating engineer with the Local 150 Operating Engineers Union, and recently retired with over 30 years of service. He was born October 13, 1942 in Rensselaer, IN, the son of Lawrence Stovall and Madeline Sirois. He grew up in Indiana and moved to St. Anne in 1974. Mr. Stovall was an active member of First Baptist Church of Manteno where he was baptized and loved to worship and be with his fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. He also like to spend time with the children at church.Eric enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, and most of all he cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was also a veteran of the U.S. National Guard. Surviving are his wife, the former Phyllis Yoder, whom he married in 1967 in Brook, IN, one sister, Jane Anderson of St. Anne, IL; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jeff and Kelli Stovall of Rockford, IL, Tim and Denise Stovall of Elgin, IL and Lance Stovall of Chicago, IL; two daughters and one son-in-law, Tina Chapman of Warner Robins, GA, and Heather and Glen Oosterhoff of Momence, IL; eight grandchildren, Jacqueline, Aaron, Taylor, Adam, Andrew, Erica, John, Rachel; one great granddaughter, Gabriela. Pre-deceased by his parents.
