Lenora Anker, nee Kamstra, age 92, of Beecher, IL, formerly of South Holland, IL, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Harvey Anker. Loving mother of Kathy (Ross) Mulder, Mary Ann (Randy) Pals, Lynn (Mike) Briney, Kim (Tahar) Mettache, and Rachel (Robert) Wooley. Cherished grandmother of 13; great-grandmother of 14. Dear sister of the late Matt Kamstra, late Caryl Rietveld, late Dorothy Rietveld, and the late Rose Paarlberg.

Lenora was a charter member of Faith Church. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, and book clubs. Children and children’s ministries were her passion, which included children’s Sunday school and two mission trips to Africa. Her favorite saying, “It isn’t the child’s fault.”  During her lifetime, Lenora and her husband Harvey fostered 26 children in addition to raising five daughters. Lenora’s gift was hospitality. She never met a stranger.

Visitation Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. The family requests that guests wear face masks. A private family service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The service will be will be live streamed at https://www.facebook.com/SmitsFH . Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery – Lansing, IL.
