Leona B. Macocha

Leona B. Macocha, nee Berdis, age 100, late of Dyer formerly of Portage, IN, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 29, 2024.  Loving wife of the late Matthew M. “Mitch” Macocha.  Devoted mother of Charmaine (Fred) Blissmer, Janet (late Jim) Antilla, Susan (Allen) Hruskoci, Ellen (Jim) Harte, and Michael (Lisa) Macocha.  Proud grandmother of 15; great-grandmother of 29.  Dearest sister of the late Eleanore (William) McIlvoy, and late Georgene (late Alex) Smaluk.  Cherished aunt and great-aunt of numerous nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by her parents George and Victoria Berdis. Leona was loved by her family, and friends, and will be dearly missed.

Visitation Friday, March 8, 2024 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN.  Visitation Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Leona’s funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church 500 Northgate Dr. Dyer, IN, with Rev. Charles Niblick officiating.

Inurnment Monday, March 11, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery - Elwood, IL.
