Lisa M. Kowynia

Lisa M. Kowynia, nee Hanley, age 51, of Dyer, IN passed away peacefully Thursday, March 5, 2020. Loving mother of Bob Kowynia and Sean Kowynia.  Beloved daughter of Carolyn Hanley Marty, nee Cristelli and the late Robert Joseph Hanley.  Dear sister of Traci (Christopher) McCoy, Robert (Sarah) Hanley, and Sylvia Hinkle.  Cherished friend to many.  Lisa was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.  A memorial visitation will be Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 A.M. at Faith Church, 100 - 81st Ave., Dyer, IN.

Lisa grew up in Colorado and found her way to Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, Iowa where she majored in Social Work.  Since a young age, she had a passion for helping children.  She began a career in her field advocating for foster children.  After a break as a stay at home mom, she worked at a preschool and then returned to social work.  Her most recent job led her to Franciscan Health Alliance where she became a prenatal specialist helping expectant mothers.  Serving others brought her great joy.  She was an active member of her church, Faith Church Dyer.   This community allowed her to live out Christ’s love through fellowship and service.  Lisa’s greatest love on earth was her two sons, Bob and Sean.  Lisa leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, friendship and fun.
