Preceded in death by her parents Johann Herman Dietrich Thalmann and Helena Margaretha(nee Bormann) Thalmann and three brothers and six sisters: Henry, Dora, Lydia, Margareta, Helena, Anna, Alma, John, and Elmer. Lorna was devoted to her Lord, having been baptized and confirmed into faith as St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Woodworth, Illinois. After WW II she and Edward ultimately settled in Harvey, Illinois where she continued to reside. She and Edward joined Trinity Lutheran Church in Harvey and became known for their volunteerism. Lorna taught Sunday School, was in women's groups, and cooked and served many meals in Trinity's fellowship hall. In later years their church home became St. Paul Lutheran Church, Dolton and Good Shepherd, South Holland when the two churches merged. Her home was indeed her castle where she was a devoted wife and mother. Their door was always open to guests. She would cook, serve, and often became a tour guide. Lorna was an incredible cook and often received phone calls asking for a recipe. Lorna's hobbies were sewing, crocheting, baking and collecting antiques, mostly depression glass. She had an eye for detail and whatever she touched radiated perfection. Lorna and Edward became avid travelers having enjoyed 21 trips to Hawaii, finding ancestry in Germany, and countless adventures within the U.S. Lorna was best known for her faith, loyalty, sense of humor, dependability, and her feisty determination. She touched the lives of many. We have no doubt Edward and their son Roger greeted her at the gates of heaven and there has been a joyful reunion. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Rest In Peace.
