Lorraine Mary Hayes, nee Clifford, age 92, formerly of Dolton, South Holland, and Calumet City, IL, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 20, 2018 surrounded by her loving children. Beloved wife of the late John B. “Jack” Hayes. Loving mother of Susan (Kevin) Fadden, Raellen (Steve) Jones, Joseph (Linda) Hayes, Thomas Hayes, Margaret “Peg” Hayes, and the late John Patrick Hayes. Cherished grandmother of 17; great-grandmother of 20. Dear sister of Margaret (late Bill) Rapp and the late Mary (late Walter) Nikowitz O’Hara; sister-in-law of Ed Hayes. Devoted daughter of the late John and Mary Clifford, nee McMahon. Fond aunt and great-aunt of many nieces and nephews. Loyal friend to many.

Visitation Friday, November 23, 2018 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Private interment.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Hayes family.

Lorraine was a friend of Bill W, she believed in the power of prayer and divine order. Other than her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, she was most proud of her forty-three years of sobriety and many achievements. From returning to school, counseling, acting and modeling classes, and traveling and cruising. Her love and devotion to her family and friends will be what she is most remembered for.
