Lorraine C. Smith nee DeGroot, age 84, late of South Holland, IL. Passed away Thursday, January 28, 2010. Beloved wife of the late Lloyd N. Smith. Devoted mother of Bonnie (Joe) Onzick, Phil (Janet) Smith, David (Sharon) Smith and Dan (Nancy) Smith. Precious grandmother of 7. Dearest sister of the late Margaret Jones. Kind aunt of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents Christian and Bertha De Groot. Sidney M. Mauldin officiating. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery - Lansing, IL. Lorraine received musical training and was a graduate from the Moody Bible Institute. She was an organist/pianist who played for many years and many occasions in the churches of South Holland and the South Suburban area. Lorraine played for many blessed family occasions, such as family weddings and birthdays as well as funeral ceremonies for the families of the South Holland community. She loved her time playing both at Rest Haven and at the Holland Home. Lorraine was truly blessed and loved sharing her musical talents with family and friends.
