Louis Murray

Louis Murray, age 76, of South Holland, IL, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 29, 2025.  Loving husband of Cecille Murray, nee Zajicek.  Beloved father of Dre’ (Alexis), Vel, Nicole, and Lori. Cherished grandfather of Jazlyn, Aysia, Tavares, and Devin.  Dear brother of Janice (Robert), Sammy, Roy, Johnny, Abe, and Garrett (Faye) Murray; brother-in-law of Lisa (Keith), Gloria, Ken, Barb, and Bob.  Best friend of Herbert (Mo).  Kind uncle of many nephews and nieces.  Dear son of Mary (late Abe) Murray.  Louis was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Louis was born in Seale, AL to Abe & Mary Murray. At 20 years old, he decided to seek better job opportunities in Chicago in 1968. He "hit the lottery" when he was employed at Plochman's Mustard Co. & met who would be the love of his life, Ceil. Louis & Ceil were dedicated to each other for 51 years. In later years, he worked hard at various construction companies until his retirement. Louis will be remembered for his love for life, hilarious sense of humor, generously giving of his time & the  strength & bravery he showed throughout years of illnesses. But his passion & skills for fishing earned him the nickname "Tightline" (fishing with unusual bait & not a bobber). Now he can enjoy fishing in God's kingdom.

Visitation Saturday, April 5, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home 649 E. 162nd St. (Rt.6/159th St.) South Holland, IL.  Interment Resurrection Cemetery – Justice, IL.
