Lourdes "Lulu" "Morena" Fuentes, née Ortiz Macias, passed away in the early morning hours of Monday March 30th, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 12th, 1938, (87) in the town of León Guanajuato Mexico, where she fell in love with a local boy in her teens. She was determined to follow the path of becoming a Catholic nun, but her heart had other plans. They were married in 1961 and she is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Roberto Fuentes Sr. She lived a life defined by kindness, devotion, and a quiet strength that touched everyone who knew her.
She was the loving mother of Roberto "Rob" Fuentes Jr, Ricardo "Rick" (Maria) Fuentes, Jaime "Jim" (Yolanda) Fuentes, Gerardo "Jerry" (Maria) Fuentes, Juan Jose "John" (Dora) Fuentes, Daniel "Dan" (Laurie) Fuentes, and Arturo "Art" Fuentes.
She was the matriarch of our family, but she became one of the cherished neighborhood Moms, on Magnolia Plaza, where she welcomed all visitors and offered an ear to just sit and chat about anything. Multiple people have come forward to express their sorrow and shared stories on how "Lulu" had made them feel when they would pay a visit. There was a certain internal peace and calmness that she could express in just they way she was.
Lourdes "Morena" was the last survivor of a family that was composed of 14 children, with a majority of them living in Mexico, before time took its toll and each one passed away. She is leaving behind many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren who have expressed their sense of loss with the news of her passing. It will be a difficult time for all of us.
