Lowell L. Newbury, age 87, of Crete, IL, passed away peacefully January 23, 2014. Beloved husband of 65 years to Doris Newbury nee Vandom. Loving father of Raymond (Sandra) and Robert Newbury. Cherished grandfather of Megan Therese and Nicole Lee Newbury. Dear brother of Jesse (Anne), Dorothy (late Felix) Harvey and Ruth Allen. Lowell was preceded in death by brothers; Joe, Herman, Stanley, Louis, Bill and Sisters; Lita and Pearl. Visitation Saturday January 25, 2013 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Homes-Steger Memorial Chapel 3045 Chicago Road Steger, IL 60475. Visitation Monday, January 27th from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Morton & Johnston Funeral Home 410 S. Main St. Benton, IL. Interment to follow at Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery - Benton, IL. Lowell was a US Army WWII and Korean War Veteran.
