Lucy Belle Allen was a gift.
From the moment she entered the world on July 2, 2019—arriving nine minutes before her twin sister, Avery—it was clear that she was something special. Tiny but mighty, Lucy packed more personality into her little frame than seemed possible. She was fearless, joyful, fiercely independent, and loved with her whole heart.
Lucy is deeply loved by her mother, Meredith; her twin sister and built-in best friend, Avery; and her big brother, Michael, who was her fiercest protector. Michael would do anything for his little sisters and took great pride in looking after them. Together, the three of them filled their home with laughter, adventures, and endless love.
When Lucy and Avery were born, Meredith suddenly found herself officially outnumbered. Thankfully, she was never alone. Lucy was surrounded by a family who adored her from the very beginning. Her grandmother, Cindy—better known as “Gigi”—became Meredith’s steady partner, helping care for the twins and Michael while showering them all with unconditional love. Aunt Patt and Uncle Benny were never far away, always ready to rock the girls to sleep, sew Halloween costumes, lend a helping hand, or deep clean the house without ever being asked. Lucy grew up wrapped in the kind of village every child deserves.
If there was one thing everyone knew about Lucy, it was that she was equal parts sweet and spicy. She had a heart overflowing with love, a spark of sass, and a personality far bigger than her tiny frame. She knew exactly what she liked, stood up for what she believed in, and was never afraid to be herself. She was, and always will be, unmistakably Lucy.
When her family thinks of her, they will forever picture her radiant smile, those unforgettable dimples, and hear her contagious little giggle. They’ll remember the way she sucked her thumb with her blanket draped over her shoulder when she was tired. They’ll remember the look she’d give when she especially wanted something, and the way she’d pop out her little hip whenever she was feeling particularly sassy. They can still hear Gigi affectionately calling her, “Lucy Bell.”
Lucy was so much like her mom. She shared Meredith’s beautiful, fiery spirit—determined, compassionate, fearless, and never afraid to stand up for what she believed in. She loved her mom with every part of her heart. Like so many little girls, Meredith was her safe place, her comfort, and her greatest source of love. No matter what kind of day she was having, a snuggle from Mom could fix just about anything. Their bond was one built on endless love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Lucy lived authentically. At only six years old, she effortlessly broke stereotypes. One weekend she might be cheering from the sidelines at a football game, and later that same day she would be lacing up her soccer cleats for a tournament. She loved having her nails painted, her eyelashes just right, dressing up in fancy clothes, experimenting with makeup, and expressing herself however she pleased. She showed everyone around her that you could love sports and sparkle, strength and style—all at the same time.
Creative beyond her years, Lucy loved bringing her ideas to life. A self-taught makeup artist in the making, she undoubtedly would have grown into someone filling the world with “Get Ready With Me” videos, fashion shows, laughter, and dreams that were every bit as big as her personality.
Lucy treasured the people and things she loved most. She shared an extraordinary bond with her twin sister, Avery—a connection only twins can truly understand. She adored her big brother, Michael, who never stopped looking out for her. She absolutely loved her dog, Duncan, who was her constant companion and faithful friend. She also cherished her dolls, Princess Belle, playing dress-up, and spending time with her family and friends. Every person lucky enough to know Lucy carries a story that begins with her smile and ends with a laugh.
Although her life was heartbreakingly short, Lucy taught lessons many spend a lifetime learning. She reminded us to be unapologetically ourselves, to love fiercely, to take up space, to chase joy, and to embrace exactly who we are.
The days ahead will forever feel different without her bright light shining among us. Yet Lucy’s spirit will continue to live on—in every act of kindness, every burst of courage, every laugh shared between siblings, every soccer game, every cheer routine, every sparkle of glitter, every little girl who chooses both cleats and dresses simply because she can.
Lucy leaves behind a family whose lives will forever be shaped by her love: her devoted mother, Meredith; her beloved twin sister, Avery; her protective big brother, Michael; her cherished dog, Duncan; her loving Aunt Caitlin and Uncle Mike; her cousins McKenzie, Jordan, and Cooper; Aunt Patt and Uncle Benny, Uncle Matt and Aunt Gina, cousins Adam and Della, Uncle Rick and Aunt Tami; Grandma Jane and Papa Fred along with countless, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, teachers, teammates, and all who were blessed to know and love her.
She entered Heaven hand in hand with her beloved Gigi, together just as they so often were in life.
Forever loved. Forever remembered. Forever our Lucy.
