Mae Hoeksema (nee Visser), long-time resident of South Holland and Lansing, IL, died on March 31, at the age of 96.
Mae is survived by her children: George Jr. (Gerri), Susan, Alan (Carol), John (Marjory), Tim, Teana Witvliet, Esther Van Hattem (Richard), Mark (Cindy); her sisters Clara Koster and Martha Frieling, brother Eli (Tootie), brother-in-law Jay Dorn (Helen), 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband George, her son Philip, her grandson Luke Witvliet, and her daughter-in-law Colleen.
A woman of simple but significant faith, Mae committed herself to serving the Lord as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and church member. Mae’s family and friends will greatly miss her uncommon kindness, her servant heart, and her inexhaustible encouragement, affection and cheerfulness.
Visitation Monday, April 3, 2017 from 2:00 - 6:45 p.m. with a funeral service to be held at 7:00 p.m. at Lynwood United Reformed Church (1990 E. Glenwood-Dyer Rd. Lynwood, IL 60411) with Rev. Nick Alons officiating. Private interment Oak Ridge Cemetery – Lansing, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Providence Life Services, Providence Hospice, or Mid-America Seminary.
