Marcella Vander Luitgaren, nee Mickewicz, age 98, of Glenwood, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 18, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Peter Vander Luitgaren. Loving mother of the late Charles (Marjory) Vander Luitgaren, Lynn (late Raymond) Tuftedal, late David (Donna) Vander Luitgaren, and Jean (Norbert) Wlekinski. Cherished grandmother of Beth, Jaimie, Kara (Patrick), Erik (Heather), Sean (Melissa), Sari (Timothy), Brian, Katie, Amy (Sean) and Michael (Erica). Great-grandmother of Olivia, Cora, Branden, Ryan, Emily, Noah, Stephanie, Matthew, Colin, Ethan, Owen, Benjamin, Abigail, Rebecca, Hannah, Kyle, Kiera, Declan, Ogie, Cillian and Zeke. Kind aunt of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her siblings Frances, John, Stephen, Matthew, Louis, and Patricia, and by her parents Stanley and Apallonia Mickewicz.

Visitation Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Prayer service Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 11:30 a.m. from Smits Funeral Home to St. Michael the Archangel Church, 1 W. Wilhelm St. Schererville, IN, for a 12:30 p.m. funeral Mass with Rev. Martin J. Dobrzynski officiating. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery – Alsip, IL.
