Marian N. Hess

Marian N. Hess, nee Andersen, age 95, of South Holland, IL, passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Loving wife of the late Richard Walter Hess. Devoted mother of Judy (John) Porter, Janet (late Richard) Staley, Natalie (David) Blaski, and John (Jenny) Hess. Proud grandmother of James(Sarah) and the late Jennifer Porter, Robert Michael (late Lisa) Staley, Elizabeth (Joshua) Audi, Stephen, Alyssa, and Mark Blaski, Mia Rose and Meilynn Hess; great-grandmother of Annabella, James, Rosalie, Adalynn, Declan, Elijah, Matthew, Malachi, and Everly. Dear sister of the late Carol (late Bud) Hedberg, late Betty (late Dick) Palm, and Martha (Carl) Christensen. Kind aunt of several nieces and nephews. Visitation Sunday, January 18, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN with Rev. Steve Miller officiating. Burial will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery – Elwood, IL.

Marian was a faithful member of Village Church for many years where she served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher and church secretary. In her earlier years she also played the piano for church services.
