Marie O'Laughlin

Marie O’Laughlin, nee Shawley, age 95, of Steger, Illinois, passed away peacefully, Saturday, October 26, 2024.

Born on June 2, 1929 in Scotland County Missouri, Marie lived a full, adventurous and vibrant life. She was the loving wife of Gavin O’Laughlin, who preceded her in death by fourteen years. Together, they raised a family of 2 children who were their pride and joy.

Marie was a devoted wife, who took great pride in caring for her family. She was an exceptional cook and seamstress, known for her delicious meals and her beautiful needlework.

In her free time, Marie enjoyed sewing, duck hunting and snowmobiling. She was an avid fan of playing golf, and loved to watch it on tv when she couldn’t make it on the course herself. She was talented and spirited and will be treasured by her loved ones.

She was a kind and generous soul who always put others before herself. Her family and friends will remember her for her warm smile, her gentle nature, and her unwavering love.

Marie is preceded by her parents Ephraim Shawley and Florence Shawley, her two sisters Thelma Orton and Lousie Kelly, her husband Gavin O’Laughlin and her son Michael O’Laughlin. Marie is survived by her son Patrick O’Laughlin and Peggy O’Laughlin, daughter in law Tami O’Laughlin, her grandchildren Garrett O’Laughlin (Kim), Timothy O’Laughlin, Kaylee Villalobos (Adam), Brenna O’Laughlin. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, Hanna Villalobos, Audrey Villalobos, Lennox Drake and several nieces and nephews.
