Marlin Dwight Carr age 74 of Bourbonnais, IL formerly of Thornton, IL passed away Monday, Jan 16, 2017. Marlin was born Mar 5, 1942 in Blue Island, IL to Boyd Harrison Carr and Viola Lillian (Merrell). Beloved husband of Diana Joan (Brandy). Father of Christopher Boyd, Grandfather of RaeAnn Hope and Devin. Father of Nicholas John (Fiancée Dana R. Gaboian), Grandfather of Bailey and Grant. Brother of Helen L. Jolley . Brother-in-law to Robert(Debi) Brandy and uncle to 13 nieces and nephews. Marlin retired from the US Postal Service in Nov 2002 after 41 years as a Distribution Clerk for the Post Office in Harvey, IL. He resided at his home in Thornton for 25 years and Bourbonnais for the last 14 years. After completing a freshman year of college at Drake University, Marlin enlisted in the US Navy for 4 years active service at Great Lakes. In the 80’s he was Cub Master for Pack 325, active in the Boy Scouts, and coached t-ball and Little League Baseball. He was a genealogist, avid MMORPGer as "Desiderius" of Ultima Online & "Otho" of Lord Of The Rings Online, Marlin favorited reading science fiction books. Visitation Friday, Jan 20, 2017 from 3:00pm – 8:00pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 508 Chicago Rd., Thornton, IL. Funneral Service Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11:00am at St. Paul Lutheran Church with services conducted by Rev. Harold Wahl. Interment Zion Lutheran Cemetery – Tinley Park, IL. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Paul Lutheran Church. Arragements entrusted to Smits, DeYoung-Vroegh Funeral Home – South Holland, IL
