Mary Elizabeth Davis

Mary Elizabeth Davis, nee Montgomery, age 80, of Blue Island, IL passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Lowell Davis.  Loving mother of Patricia A. Common and James P. Common.  Cherished grandmother of Ethan Common, Jasmine Common, Octavia Hardy, and Justin Common and great-grandma to Nathaniel Common, Natalie Common, Adannaya Common, Jaylin Common, Ahleijah Common, Aniya Common, Jazelle Common, Roebi Common, and Mary Jane Hardy.  Dear sister of John Wesley Hinton, Lee Willie Montgomery, Clarence Montgomery, Laura Montgomery, LaBertha Range, and Louis D. Montgomery.  Preceded in death by her parents Odessa and Martha Elizabeth Montgomery.

She was loved by many and will be missed dearly. Her humor and affection were like a warm hug to all she crossed paths with.  Throughout her struggles with her health, she remained a bright light and pillar of her family. Mary was known for the love she had for her family, her pets, her flowers, her morning coffee & donut (or something sweet in general), her Pepsi, and last, but not least, Michael Jordan’s bald head. She was the definition of strength even on her weakest days and would do anything to make the next person smile.

A visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at Smits Funeral Home, 649 E. 162nd St., South Holland, IL.  Interment will take place at Mt.
