Mary Henrietta Gibson, 99, of Momence Illinois passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2017. Mary was born April 2, 1918 on a farm north of Momence to Edith and Arthur Gibson. Mary graduated from the Momence High School, She worked for many years at Yellow Front Grocery store and then worked until retirement at Baker and Taylor in Momence. She was the primary caregiver for her mother Edith who reached the age of 104. Mary hosted family gatherings for the Gladiolus Festivals for numerous years including the 2017 festival. She was a life-long and active member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Momence. For many years she served on the alter guild and was a member of the vestry. Mary enjoyed bowling, puzzles, and taking care of her precious cat Edy. Mary is survived by her older sister Blanche (late Wilmont) Tremore, five nieces and nephews, thirteen great nieces and nephews, including Johanna Gies who served as Mary’s primary caregiver for several years. Also surviving are numerous great-great and one great-great-great niece. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Doris (late Bob) Horner and Bernice (late Luther) Clayton, Niece; Linda Hartman, great niece; Melinda Hartman, and great nephew; Michael Tremore. Visitation Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 9:00-11:00 am at the Momence Funeral Chapel 2013 North Locust St Momence IL. Funeral Service 11:00 am at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd in Momence. Interment at Momence Cemetery.
