Mary Ann Sparks

Mary Ann “Sparky” Sparks, nee Simmons, age 85, of Crete, IL passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.  Beloved spouse of the late Robert Wilke.  Loving mother of Donald (Lela) Sparks; mother-in-law of Jan Sparks.  Cherished grandmother of Reanne (Mike) Myers, Drew (Alisa) Sparks, Jarred Sparks, and Dalton Sparks; great-grandmother of Timothy, Paiton, and Shane Myers, Sadie and Juliette Sparks.  Dear sister of the late James Simmons.  Preceded in death by her parents Chester and Dorothy Simmons.  Mary was a long-time member of St. Liborius Catholic Church.  She was also a member of the Council of Catholic Women, the Outreach Committee, the Pantry Committee, was a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered often at the Steger Senior Center.  Sparky loved to serve others and enjoyed gardening.  She was loved by many and her spark will be deeply missed.

A memorial mass will be held Saturday, December 3, 2022, 11:00 a.m. at St. Liborius Catholic Church 71 W 35th St, Steger, IL 60475. Donations can be made to the Mary Sparks Memorial Fund for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements entrusted to Smits, Steger Memorial Chapel, 3045 Chicago Rd, Steger, IL.
