Marylin Hoecker, a strong and joyful woman, 82, longtime resident of South Chicago Heights, passed away at home in hospice care. She was predeceased by her parents, August and Florence Hoecker. A teacher and an administrator in Crete district 201-U, Marylin earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in school administration from DePaul University. She also served as principal at the former Mount Carmel grade school in Chicago Heights. A career transition from education led her to the anesthesia department at the University of Chicago, where she managed the pain clinic.
