Melvin C. DeBoer, age 88, of Crete, IL went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, August 24, 2017. Beloved husband of Phyllis DeBoer, nee Evers. Loving father of Linda (Jeff) Bixenman and Jim (Dawn) DeBoer. Dear step-father of Don (Jann) Bruinsma, Debbie (Paul) DeYoung, Doug (Lynn) Bruinsma and Duane (Mary) Bruinsma. Devoted grandfather of 20; great grandfather of 22. Preceded in death by his first wife Joyce DeBoer, nee Watrous. Visitation Sunday, August 27, 2017 from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Smits Funeral Home – 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Funeral service Monday, August 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Crete Protestant Reformed Church (1777 E. Richton Rd., Crete, IL) with services conducted by Rev. Nathan Langerak.
