Mercedes Hickey

Mercedes Hickey, nee Gonzalez, age 90, of Hammond, IN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2023.  Loving wife of the late Richard Keith Hickey Sr.  Devoted mother of Donald Robert Sabedra, Richard Keith Hickey Jr. and Frances Elizabeth Chiattello.  Cherished grandmother of Brian L. Edwards, Nicole Ramirez, Jennifer Hickey, Jacqueline Chalos, and Amanda Hickey; great-grandmother of Dayton Cottrell, Krystal Edwards, Isaiah Ramos, Andrew Ramos, Adonis Howard, Jaiveon Mosley, Jayden Burkhart, Remi Chalos, and Gunnar Chalos.  Dearest sister of Jesse Gonzalez, Robert Gonzalez, Chava Gonzalez, Harry Gonzalez, Anita Kashet, Alice Sfondilis, and Leslie Gonzalez.  Mercedes was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Memorial visitation Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. with a prayer service to be held at 3:30 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.), Dyer, IN.
