Michael J. Peters Sr., age 81, of Atwood, IL, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Beloved husband of Laurie J. Peters, nee Sliwinski. Loving father of Tracie (John) McCleverty, Shannon (Jonathan) Rocha, Michael (Megan) Peters Jr., Michael Ojeda, and Daniel Ojeda. Cherished grandfather of Sydney Rocha, J.J. McCleverty, Gianna Rocha, Harper Peters, Beckett Peters, Isabella Ojeda, and Frances Ojeda. Dear brother of the late Carolyn “Jane” Pearson, Marianne Peters, and Susan (Bob) Landis. Kind uncle of several nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Harry and Freda Peters.

Memorial visitation to be held Friday, September 12, 2025 from 3:00—8:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Memorial contributions may be given to Alzheimer’s Association ( www.alz.org ).
