Patricia J. Mackey

Patricia Mackey, age 62, of Schererville, IN, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2026. She was the beloved and selfless mother of Declan Mackey, the loving daughter of Jacqueline and the late Bernard Mackey, and the dear sister of Debbie (Russ) Mars, Kari (Carl) Thomsen, and Kristin (John) Morzy. She was the proud aunt of Nicole (Jordan) Ryan, Ryan (Kristen) Mars, Steven (Theresa) Morzy, John Morzy, Katherine Morzy, Daniel Morzy, Caroline Morzy, Wesley Morzy, Henry Thomsen, and Teagan Thomsen, and the great-aunt of Brenna Ryan, Peyton Mars, Stetson Mars, Maria Morzy, and Sophia Morzy. Patricia worked as a victim advocate in the courts of Macomb, Illinois before moving to the city of Chicago. There, she worked for some time as an assessment worker and investigator for the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) before joining the Chicago Police Department in 1999, where she was an officer for 27 years. She was an immensely intelligent, hilarious, and unimaginably strong woman, and she will be sorely missed by many.
