Patricia Marie Stonerock

Patricia Marie Stonerock, nee Whistler, age 87, of Thornton, IL passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021.  Beloved wife of the late Donald E. Stonerock Sr.  Loving mother of Donald "Stony" (Nancy) Stonerock Jr., the late Susan (Wayne) Lakeberg, Sheila (Glen) Scott, D.J. (Pam) Stonerock, and the late Dennis Stonerock; adopted sons: Michael (Tina) Barnhart and Jim (Jane) Candell.  Devoted grandmother of 10 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.  Kind aunt of several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ethelinda Whistler, and 1 brother and 3 sisters.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 3:00-8:00 PM with a eulogy and funeral service led by Rev. Norval Brown at 7:00 P.M. at Smits, DeYoung- Vroegh Funeral Home , 649 E. 162nd St. (Rt. 6/159th St.) South Holland, IL.  A visitation time will also be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the committal service at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.  Private Interment will be held at Cedar Park Cemetery - Calumet Park, IL.  Memorial contributions may be given to the Manteno Veterans Home (1 Veteran's Dr, Manteno, IL 60950) .

Mrs. Stonerock was a Crossing Guard in the Village of Thornton for over 42 years and was a member of the Thornton American Legion Auxillary for over 51 years.  She was an avid baker of cookies, brownies, and date nut cakes.  She enjoyed arts and crafts and loved to read.  She has been a “Thorntonite” since 1962 and was a member of the Thornton United Methodist Church.  She was loved by many and will be missed.  For further information, please contact 708-333-7000 or visit our online obituary and guest book at www.SMITSFH.com
