Patrick Allen Matthias

Patrick Allen Matthias, age 61, of Chicago Heights, IL, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loved ones after a long and courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer on Thursday, December 30, 2021.
He is survived by his loving Wife of 23 years, Patricia “Susie” Matthias, nee Summers; Daughter Erica Gelsosomo, bonus Daughter Samantha Alexander (Kenny Anifer), & bonus Son Kyle Alexander; Papa to Nykko, DeShon, Jesiah, Casey, Chloe, & Jaxson; Cherished Pups Dixie & Sugar; Parents LeRoy & Cindy Matthias and Mother-In-Law Mattie Summers; Siblings Richard (Paula) Matthias, Mandy (Graham) Bintliff, James (Jennifer) Zahn, David Matthias, and Robert (Laura) Matthias; Goddaughters (Nieces) Justina Matthias & Hailey Matthias; Many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces & Nephews, and Great Nieces & Nephews; Preceded in death by his Mother Virginia Matthias, nee Koester; Brother Michael Matthias; Father-In-Law Art Summers; Grandmother Rosella Matthias.

Patrick was born on April 14, 1960 in Chicago Heights, IL, and raised in Monee, IL. He attended Crete-Monee High School and worked for 40 Years at Region Fence Company, with the last two years at Acme Auto Electric II (Lang’s Auto Parts). He loved his weekend motorcycle rides with Susie and all of their trips, especially soaking up the sun together in Mexico. Being with his family, trips to Ludington, Michigan, fishing on Hamlin Lake, and visits to friends at the Cabin in Michigan were some of his absolute favorite times. He enjoyed yardwork, cooking, and became a master at canning. He always had the smile, jokes, and laughter that was contagious to all who know him.
