Peter F. Ham, age 79, of Schererville, IN, formerly of Lansing, IL passed away Saturday, July 12, 2014. Beloved husband of Doris Ham, nee Jabaay. Dear father of Frederick "Rick" (Linda) Ham, Lori (Dale) Evers, Dave (Vickie) Ham, Cyndee (Peter) VanVuren, Michael (Karrie) Ham, and Kevin Ham. Proud grandfather of Catherine Ham, Nicholas (Holly) Ham, Kristin (Adam) Planer, Karissa (Aaron) Watkins, Sarah Evers, Jacob VanVuren and Joseph VanVuren, and Kaitlynn, Joshua, and Tyler Ham; Great-grandfather of Mason and Owen Ham, Ethan and Nolan Planer and Kai Watkins. Dear brother of Ted (Marge) Ham and Gerrie (George) Hoeksema. Visitation Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt. 30 & Pleasant Springs Lane) Dyer, IN 46311. Funeral service Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Munster Christian Reformed Church (214 Ridge Road Munster, IN 46321) with Rev. Jeff Bulthuis officiating. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery - Lansing, IL. Mr. Ham was part owner, with his best friend John Tempelman, of T&H Masonry & Concrete Co in Lansing, IL. He was a lifetime member of Munster Christian Reformed Church where he served many times as an elder, deacon and was an usher for 60 years. He enjoyed spending the winters over the past 20 years in Bradenton, FL. He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and friend and he loved to be a part of family gatherings. Memorial contributions may be given to Elim Christian Services, Illiana Christian High School, or Lansing Christian School.
