Peter Van Der Noord, age 93, of Dyer, IN went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 2, 2011. Beloved husband of the late Frances Van Der Noord nee Wiersma; loving father of the late Gordon (late Janet) (Marybelle) Van Der Noord, Harry (Barbara) Van Der Noord, Dewey (Elaine) Van Der Noord, Pamela (Russ) Kuipers and Carla(late William) Haak; dear grandfather of 21; great- grandfather of 57 and great-great grandfather of 4; fond brother of the late Jennie Van Der Noord, Grace (late Ed) Horgesheimer, Elaine (late Garret) Rietveld, late John (Jeanette Bolt) Van Der Noord, late Harry (Julia) Van Der Noord, Ed (Phyllis) Van Der Noord, and the late Henry "Babe" (late Nellie) Van Der Noord. Also preceded in death by two grandsons Gary Allen Kieft and Robert Wayne Lontz. Visitation Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt. 30 & Pleasant Springs Lane) Dyer, IN 46311. Funeral service Friday, September 9, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Protestant Reformed Church 1777 E. Richton Rd. Crete, IL 60417, with services conducted by Rev. Alan Brummel. Private burial prior to the service at Oak Ridge Cemetery - Lansing, IL. Mr. Van Der Noord had been a home builder in the area for many years and was an active member of Gideons International for over 50 years.
