Randy L. Buchmeier

Randy L. Buchmeier, age 64, of Dyer, IN, formerly of Steger and South Chicago Heights, IL, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021.  Randy is survived by his wife Krista (nee Meyer) Buchmeier, his two daughters Amanda (Neil) Loveless and Abbey (Lenny) Witkowski. His grandchildren Erik and Evan Loveless and Addison Witkowski.  Randy is also survived by his siblings Brenda Crawford, Thomas (Janetta) Buchmeier, and Robert (Brenda) Buchmeier, brother-in-law Dennis (Chris) Meyer and his mother-in-law Margaret Meyer. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mary Ann Buchmeier.

A memorial visitation to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 3:00 - 7:00 P.M. at the Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Dr., Dyer, IN.  Randy is a Navy Veteran,  a member of the Plumber’s Union Local 130, a member of American Legion Post #521 Steger, IL, Beecher Sportsman’s Club, and the Moose Lodge #828.

Randy was a 13 year survivor of a heart transplant and because of that the family is requesting in lieu of flowers memorials be given to Northwestern Hospital Memorial Foundation ( giving@nm.org ) in Randy’s name.
