Raymond C. Yos

Raymond C. Yos , age 61, late of Plainfield, formerly of Lansing IL, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 3, 2022.  Devoted father of Clara Yos, Dr. Ellen Yos, and Benjamin Yos.  Dearest brother of Carolyn Yos, Joyce (David) Barick, Diane (James) McGettigan, Jennifer Yos, Tish Yos, Amanda (William) Spaulding, Sharon (Richard) Pudlewski, Janice (Robert) Wilschke, and the late Linda Gowan, August, Eleanor, and Thomas Yos.  Kind uncle and great-uncle of many nieces and nephews.  Preceded in death by his loving parents Raymond and Joyce Yos, nee King.

Raymond was employed as a USPS mail carrier for 27 years in South Holland, IL. In his youth, he awed others simply by being a solitary brother growing up among nine sisters in a small house with one bathroom. Friends and strangers alike enjoyed Ray’s quick wit and dry humor and easy-going attitude. He influenced many through sharing his affinity for photography and movie-making and his eclectic taste in music. As an adult, his greatest joys and proudest moments were in raising three children who grew up to be kind and accomplished adults. He lived a life true to himself and enjoyed life even while facing serious health challenges. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation Friday, July 8, 2022 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.), Dyer, IN.  Lying in repose Saturday, July 9, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Raymond’s funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. directly at St. Ann Church, 3010 Ridge Road Lansing, IL.  Interment Holy Cross Cemetery – Calumet City, IL.
