Rene Javier Martinez “Papanay”, age 61, of Beecher, IL passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2023.   Married to Esmeralda Martinez. Loving father of Raquel (Marcelino) Gutierrez, Roman (Alyssa Zagone) Martinez, Reyna (Jose) Bisaillon, Eli (Melissa Barboza) Martinez, and Mercedes (Sergio) Zavala. Proud grandfather of Gianna, Adrein, Destiny, Anaya, Xavier, Isaiah, Cataleya, Aleah, Ethan, and Angel.  Dear brother of Isabel (Josephine) Martinez IV, Brenda (Mario) Reyes, Enrique Martinez, and Patrick Martinez.  Beloved son of Maria Luisa and the late Isabel Martinez III. Rene was loved and cherished by many friends and family members.  He will be missed.

Visitation Monday, December 18, 2023 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a time of remembrance from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN.  Visitation also Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the prayer service at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.  Interment Skyline Memorial Park – Monee, IL.
