Rev. Rein Leestma, of Dyer, IN, formerly of Grand Rapids, MI, went to be at home with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 6, 2013 at the age of 85. He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 63 years, Marcia Leestma, nee Kuiper, and his children Dr. Eric (Barbara) Leestma, Marc (Ruth) Leestma and Maribeth (Peter) Bultema; twelve grandchildren: Adam (Charissa), Thad, Micah (Deborah), Matthew, Ryan (Megan), Aaron (Susie), and Isaac Leestma, Peter (Taytum) Bultema, Beth (Dwight) Zandstra, Andrew (Katherine), Emily and Jacob Bultema; 14 great grandchildren. He is survived by his sister Mina (Almer) Vander Bok; his in-laws: William and Yvonne Visser, Mildred and Edward DeGraaf, John and Margaret Kuiper, and Wilbur and Sharon Lettinga, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Herman (Evelyn) and sister Ann (Don) Brouwer. He graduated in 1951 from Calvin Seminary and served three churches in the Grand Rapids area: Plainfield (Blythefield CRC), Dutton CRC (United Reformed) and West Leonard CRC. In 1964, he served the First Roseland CRC, and served Lynwood URC until his retirement in 1992. Visitation with the family will be at Lynwood United Reformed Church (1990 Glenwood-Dyer Rd., Lynwood, IL 60411) on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 3:00 - 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 from 9:30 - 11:00 A.M. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 A.M. Private burial services will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens - Schererville, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Mid America Reformed Seminary (229 Seminary Dr. Dyer, IN 46311.)
