Beloved husband of Darlene Vree, nee DeBoer. Dear father of Dave (Sharon) Vree, Dan (Barb) Vree, Paul (Denise) Vree, Sharon (Pete) Golas, and Mary Vree. Step-father of Brian Schoenrock, Renee (Jeff) Swetlik, and Todd Schoenrock. Cherished grandfather of 12 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Loving brother of Lois (late Charles) Kreml, late Hank (late Martha) Vree, and the late Dorothy (late Floyd) Voss. Uncle of many nieces and nephews. Visitation Tuesday, June 7, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30/Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN with Pastor Joe Pujdak officiating. Interment Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery – Elwood, IL. Richard was a United States Air Force Veteran.
