Rita R. Wario, nee DeJong, age 40, of Lansing, IL, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025. Beloved wife of Hussein Wario. Loving mother of Ebbah Wario, Gabriella Wario, and Zakariah Wario. Cherished daughter of Arthur and Anetta DeJong. Dear sister of Arthur (Karen) DeJong, Elizabeth DeJong, Eileen DeJong, Sarah-Lynn (Steven) Kleyn, Suzanne (Reyenga), Rebecca (Mark) Boer, Grace (Jon) Kooiman, Martin (Karmin) DeJong, and Edna (Aaron) Kamphuis. Daughter-in-law of Khadijah Haguye Sigirso. Sister-in-law of Roba Wario, Diram Wario, Dungiti Wario, Woticho Wario, and the Honorable Ali Wario Guyo. Kind aunt of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her son Nehemiah Wario, her brother Andrew DeJong, her father-in-law Wario Guyo Waakole, and her beloved dog Buddy.

Visitation Monday, April 7, 2025 from 5:00—8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home, 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane, Dyer, IN. Funeral Service Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. directly at Living Word Church, 2248 186th St, Lansing, IL. The family requests that you wear athletic clothing for her visitation and funeral service. Interment Oak Ridge Cemetery—Lansing, IL.
