Robert K. Furlong, age 94, of Lansing, Illinois, passed away in the compassionate care of the Covid team at Ingalls Memorial Hospital. Bob was born and raised in McKeesport, Pennsylvania. An Army veteran, he served in WWII in China, Burma, and India, where he met and married his first wife, Moina. While residing in Calumet City, Bob worked for U.S. Steel until the South Works closed. Bob roller-skated from age 3 to age 86, when his feet wouldn’t obey him anymore. Bob was always willing to lend a hand and loved to tell jokes and stories. In recent years, Bob lived at Prairie Oasis Nursing Home, where he received wonderful care from staff who treated him like family. Bob is survived by his wife of 25 years, Rebecca, and her family; his children: Alyn, Bill (Jana), Vera (Brad) Seydel, and Leslee (Steven) Ciecierski, as well as numerous family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, son Richard (Diane) and nephew Danial.

Due to current restrictions, a private service will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2020. Bob will be interred at the historic McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery at a later date.
