Robert H. Kohnhorst, age 82, of Beecher, IL, passed away peacefully Monday, November 12, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Barbara Kohnhorst, nee Donohue. Devoted father of the late Robert Kohnhorst, William (Renee) Kohnhorst, the late Pamela (Charles) Lager, Patricia (Kevin) Nelson, Margaret (David) Gottschammer, Daniel (Lisa) Kohnhorst, and Ray (Heather) Kohnhorst. Proud grandfather of 13; great-grandfather of 7. Dear brother of the late Charles Kohnhorst, Clara May (James) Lyall and Christine (late Mick) Stevens. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Robert and Florence Kohnhorst.

Mr. Kohnhorst was a Captain with the Sauk Village Fire Department for over 25 years. He was a retired Route Salesman and a lifetime member of the Elks and Moose Lodges.

Visitation Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt.30 & Pleasant Springs Ln.) Dyer, IN. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. directly at St. James Catholic Church, 22400 Torrence Ave. Sauk Village, IL. Visitation at St. James Church one hour prior to service.

Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of the Calumet Area/William J. Riley Residence.
