Russell A. Gullickson, age 75, of Schererville, IN, formerly of Lansing, IL passed away peacefully Thursday, July 24, 2014. Loving husband for 56 years of Wilma J. Gullickson, nee Stooksbury. Dearest dad of Dawn (James) Miller, Russell A. (Susan) Gullickson Jr., and Lori (Marcin) Bartoszewski. Loving grandpa of Amy (Rob) Mendoza, Amber (Andrew) Josephson, Angela Brown, Amanda (Brett) Zandstra, Megan, Alex, and Emma Gullickson, Jacob Atherton, and Hailey Rumbles; Great-papa of Gage Brown, Carmelina Mendoza, Aaron Josephson, Junior Mendoza, Miah Caton, Alan Josephson, James Bowers, and Reagan Zandstra. Dear brother of Arlene (Rodger) Torrenga. Mr. Gullickson was an Air Force Veteran, a Realtor in Illinois and Indiana for 32 years, former Lansing Police and Fire Commissioner, Volunteer Fireman, Village Trustee, School Board Member, President of the Lansing Real Estate Board, Senior Housing President, Casa and Hospital Volunteer, and a Member of the Lake County Indiana Sheriff's Posse. Russ also served as a Deacon, Choir Director, Sunday School Supt., Teacher and Youth Director. Visitation Wednesday, July 30, 2014 from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Smits Funeral Home 2121 Pleasant Springs Lane (Rt. 30 & Pleasant Springs Lane) Dyer, IN 46311. Funeral service Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Bethel Church (10202 Broadway, Crown Point, IN 46307) with Rev. Gary Butler officiating.
