Sam J. Piazza, age 94, of Steger, IL passed away January 27, 2010. Beloved husband of the late Nataline Piazza. Loving father of Adrienne (Norman) Lange, Sharon (late Tom) Whitaker, Marilyn (George) Chandler. Cherished grandfather of seven, great-grandfather of eleven. Dear brother of Tony Piazza and Rose Sparling. Dear brother-in-law of Mary Zerante. Sam was preceded in death by his parents Stephen and Mary Piazza, three brothers: Frank, Charlie and Joe, and two sisters: Florence Carducci and Mary Kupka. Visitation Friday, January 29th from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Smits Funeral Homes-Steger Memorial Chapel (3045 Chicago Rd. Steger, IL.) Funeral Mass Saturday 10:00 a.m. at St. Liborius Catholic Church, Steger. Interment at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Steger. Sam spent his life owning and operating several area service stations. After retiring, Sam the Doctor of Cars as he liked to be referred to, continued to help family and friends with all their mechanical needs. His many hobbies included working in his flower and vegetable gardens, watching boxing on TV, golfing, and sitting on his patio visiting with his many friends and family.
