Seldon LeMoyne Gordon Sr. age 81, of Manteno, IL, passed away May 2, 2009. Beloved fiancé of Eleanor Waldron. Loving father of Seldon L. (Mimi) Gordon Jr., Patricia Ann (Edwin) Walter, Frances Marion Meilahn. Cherished grandfather of seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Dear brother of Thomas Ball, Nellie Dever and Mable Crockett. Seldon was preceded in death by his wife Mary Etta Gordon nee Stevenson, two grandchildren Seldon L. III, and Rebekah L. Gordon, and siblings:Jessie Herosky, Stella Pinkney, Garnet White, Samuel Ball, Frank Gordon, Andrew Gordon. Visitation Tuesday May 5th from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m at Smits Funeral Homes-Steger Memorial Chapel (3045 Chicago Rd. Steger, IL). Funeral Service Wednesday 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Steger, IL. Mr. Gordon was a U.S Army WWII Veteran, Volunteer fireman for Sauk Village and Mount Olive Fire Department, retired from Verson Press, and enjoyed fishing, had a wonderful since of humor and loved his family dearly..
