Sheldon "Babe" R. Gilbert, age 92, a lifelong resident of Harvey, IL passed away Monday, September 22, 2014. Beloved husband for 71 years of the late Carol Gilbert. Loving father of Judith Diehl and Sheldon D.(Isabel) Gilbert. Dear grandfather of Kimberly(Gary) Baker, John K.(Tifany) Diehl, Courtney Diehl and Lawrence Gilbert and great-grandfather of Tristan, Aidan, Brandon, Junior, Jordan and Toby. Fond cousin of Florence(Bob)Yoder. Edward Romanski. Mr. Gilbert worked at Ford Motor Company in Chicago Heights for over 30 years and was a member of Ascension Church in Harvey. His parents, the late James and Jessie Gilbert owned a gas station and grocery store on Vine Ave. in Harvey, IL.
