Sheri Ann Davis (nee Fitzgerald), age 80, of Dolton, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Sheri shared 51 years of marriage with her husband, Daniel R. Davis. Guided by a deep and abiding faith, she loved Jesus, found quiet joy in losing herself in a good book, and always looked forward to a comforting cup of coffee. She was an incredible cook who loved feeding those she cared about, bringing warmth and comfort to her home. As a mother, Sheri poured her entire heart into her children, Angelia (Jeffrey) Chess, Amanda (Alan) Siegel and Shannon (Timothy) Bucci. Her devotion to her family was fierce and unwavering; she always offered a listening ear, gave her absolute all to her children, and left behind a legacy of deep and enduring love.
Sheri’s greatest joy was found in her family. She was the cherished grandmother and nana of Zachary Mohr, Kourtnie Mohr, Alyssa Siegel, Douglas Hoff Jr., Aidan Siegel and Zachary Chess, and a proud great-grandmother of six great-grandchildren.
Sheri is also survived by her dear sisters, Kim Fitzgerald Kriss and Tami (John) Nelson, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. She is now reunited in peace with her parents Charlotte and Dale Fitzgerald and her brother, Gary Fitzgerald, who preceded her in death. Sheri will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation to be held Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. at Smits – Steger Memorial Chapel, 3045 Chicago Rd., Steger, Illinois 60475.
